Rapid Underwater Assessment
INDUS can be deployed to examine water depth, underwater terrain, submerged obstacles, structural conditions and potential access routes before personnel enter the water.
INDUS ROV · Key Application
Real-time underwater visual intelligence for rescue teams - before and during diver deployment.
Overview
INDUS ROV gives rescue teams live underwater video before and during diver deployment. It searches rivers, dams, flooded buildings, quarries and coastal water, uses optional sonar where visibility is poor, and records target positions so divers and recovery teams go in with a plan.
Underwater emergencies are sudden, time-critical and technically demanding. Poor visibility, strong currents, submerged structures, uncertain depth and hazardous debris can delay search operations and expose divers to significant risk.
The INDUS Underwater ROV, developed by Benzz Technologies Private Limited, provides rescue teams with real-time underwater visual intelligence before and during diver deployment. Operated remotely from the surface, INDUS can investigate submerged terrain, locate missing persons or objects, inspect confined and hazardous areas, and support safer rescue and recovery planning.
Deployment
Capabilities
INDUS can be deployed to examine water depth, underwater terrain, submerged obstacles, structural conditions and potential access routes before personnel enter the water.
The onboard 12 MP 4K UHD camera, high-intensity underwater lighting and optional imaging sonar help operators search for missing persons, submerged vehicles, boats, equipment and other targets. Sonar can assist detection where mud, silt or low visibility limits conventional cameras.
Live video, sonar and sensor information can be transmitted to the surface control station, allowing rescue commanders, divers and technical specialists to evaluate underwater conditions and coordinate the response.
Optional USBL positioning and surface GNSS integration can help record the approximate location of identified targets, underwater hazards and inspected areas. This supports systematic search coverage and reduces unnecessary repeat searches.
The compact ROV can investigate areas that may be unsafe or difficult for divers, including culverts, bridge gates, submerged buildings, flooded shafts and debris-filled structures.
An optional robotic gripper or recovery attachment can be used to examine, secure or assist with retrieving suitable small objects. For major recovery operations, INDUS provides target information to help teams select the appropriate lifting and salvage equipment.
Operational Value
Reduces unnecessary diver exposure during initial assessment.
Enables rapid preliminary investigation from the shore, boat or rescue platform.
Supports systematic underwater searches beyond normal diver endurance.
Combines lighting, 4K imaging and optional sonar for turbid water.
Records video, images, observations and target-location information.
Helps teams concentrate personnel and equipment in priority areas.
Live information can support NDRF, SDRF, Fire and Rescue Services, Police, Coast Guard and authorised disaster-management teams.
Cameras, sonar, positioning, environmental sensors and recovery tools can be selected according to the incident.

FAQ
It checks depth, terrain, obstacles and targets from the surface first, so divers enter the water with a clear plan and less risk.
Rivers, lakes, reservoirs, dams, canals, flooded roads and buildings, water-filled mines and quarries, wells, ports and coastal waters.
Yes. Lighting helps in low visibility, and optional imaging sonar detects targets where the camera cannot see.
No. INDUS is a decision-support tool. Trained divers and the responsible rescue authority stay in charge of the operation.
Teams such as NDRF, SDRF, Fire and Rescue Services, Police and Coast Guard, operated by trained operators.
